We're Better Together
We have a friendship that mirrors a kindred sisterhood. It goes way back to when we became best friends in high school and have been in-step ever since. From playing collegiate sports, to starting families around the same time, to achieving Master's degrees and pursuing careers in education, we're so lucky to have experienced these stages together. It's only natural for us now to own and run Slumberkins, since our brand is a true creative collaboration between the both of us.
Originally, Slumberkins were a re-invention of the traditional lovey blanket we set out to make for our boys while on maternity leave together in November 2015. We spent days and weeks going through the process of teaching ourselves how to sew and create a product that was unlike anything on the market. Our big "Ah-ha" moment that provided the intention behind our brand happened when we came up with the idea of incorporating skill-building routines using therapeutic techniques. We then designed each creature based on real life inspiration around a positive life skill with the intention to promote positive attachments during the bedtime routine.
We love being mothers and have a passion for working with children and helping them through challenges while focusing on positivity, inclusion, and self-worth. Slumberkins are a bridge between home and school. For parents, they are a resource for how to teach life skills and build positive attachments during the cherished bedtime routine. For children, they are magical best friends, ready to be snuggled, through all of childhood's wild adventures.
